Concrete Cutting vs. Demolition
When you need concrete cut or demolished, here is what to expect and what it costs.
Whether you need old concrete removed before a new pour or a precise cut for a modification, here is what homeowners need to know about concrete cutting and demolition.
Concrete Demolition
Demolition is the controlled breaking and removal of existing concrete. We use breakers, saws, and heavy equipment to remove old driveways, patios, slabs, and walls — then haul everything off site.
Cost: $500–$3,000+ depending on the amount and thickness of concrete, site access, and haul-off distance.
When you need it:
- Replacing a driveway, patio, or slab
- Removing a damaged wall or foundation
- Clearing a site for new construction
- Removing a shed or small structure with a concrete pad
Concrete Cutting
Concrete cutting is precision sawing of cured concrete using diamond-blade saws.
Cost: $200–$1,500+ depending on scope.
When you need it:
- Cutting control joints in new concrete
- Removing a section without damaging the surrounding area
- Trenching for plumbing or electrical under a slab
- Adding a drain or widening an opening
Why Clean Cuts Matter
Rough breaking creates micro-fractures that spread and cause future damage. Saw cutting gives you a clean edge that prevents further cracking. Never let a contractor "just break it" with a sledgehammer — always use a saw.
Safety First
We always call 811 (Alabama One-Call) before any demolition or cutting to have underground utilities marked. We also use dust control (wet cutting) to protect your property and our crew.
